So, DC-comics has hired a Dutch artist to draw Batman for them. First Dutch person to work for DC, that's good news.

He's also going to take over the current run of Birds of Prey. Who the newspaper described as 'Batman's female ladyfriends'. Which caused me to somewhat overreact, because have you, the writer of said article, ever read a single issue of Birds? No? That's what I thought.

The Birds are a group of superheroines put together by Barbara Gordon*, to do her legwork for her. They are awesome, kick-ass women being awesome and kick-ass. You could argue that through Barbara they are related to Batman, but he has no say about them whatsofuckingever.

It also makes it sound like of course women wouldn't go out and be awesome if there wasn't a man somewhere behind them to tell them to go forth and be excellent. It's bad enough that Barbara becoming Oracle because she wanted to do so got retconned into Batman telling Barbara to become Oracle. It's disingenuous to define them through their relationship to a man.

Gah, newspapers.

*Barbara Gordon was Batgirl until she got shot by the Joker. She survived, but was paralysed from the waist down. She decided to become Oracle, a big information-broker in the DC-universe, with ties to the Justice League and other groups.

Slightly less than a week-and-a-half until the Dr Who Christmas-special. Yay!

New series not until Spring 2011. Boo! And the second half of that not until Autumn 2011. Boo!

New season of Sherlock inbetween new series of Dr Who. Yay!

Martin Freeman to play Bilbo in The Hobbit. Yay!

Let's hope this doesn't wreak havoc with possibly shooting a third season of Sherlock. Because I hate when established characters sudden;y get played by new actors. And you can't you have Sherlock without his Boswell blogger.

According to IMDB, which I trust about as far as I can spit against the wind when it comes to preproduction-news, David Tennant is also to be in The Hobbit. If only, I'd die of geeky glee.

Fairly ascertained rumours that Stephen Fry is going to play Mycroft in the second Sherlock Holmes-movie, along with RDJ (of course) and Jude Law. Out in December 2011. Too long.

Normally, you get into a show, then into fanfic. Which would be how I normally do it.

Not, as in this case, watch a bit of the show, go 'Yeah, let's not.' Really, I wasn't that interested. And then you read slashfanfic, which makes you go, 'Yeah, maybe I should watch this show'.

To finally get distracted by cheekbones. Seriously. There's Spike, and Sherlock, and now Merlin. Where did I get this obsession with cheekbones from?

Title: Quiet night in
Fandom: BBC-Sherlock
Pairing/characters: John Watson/Sherlock Holmes, DI Lestrade, Sally Donovan.
Rating: PG.
Disclaimer: Sherlock Holmes is owned by Arthur Conan Doyle, various movie-companies, and in this incarnation, by Moffat and Gatiss and the BBC.
Notes: For this prompt at sherlockbbc_fic: Lestrade and Anderson and Donovan barge into 221B, accidentally walking in on Sherlock and John, who are... cuddling. On the couch. Either asleep or watching telly.
Because, honestly? Cuddly!Sherlock would probably be a hell of a lot stranger to witness than havingsex!Sherlock.
Cue amusing reactions from Lestrade and Co.

But it didn't really go there.
Summary: There's no such thing as peace for Sherlock and John.

In a fit of Holmes-obsession, I've reread the book-canon over the past week. Also, I rererereread Study in Emerald, Gaiman's fanfic/crossover. It's worth a read, I highly recommend it.

And then I realised: Might be spoilery if you've never read the latter )

But really, I do recommend Gaiman's take for Holmes-fans.

Going back to my PWP now. This fandom is really kicking my writing into overdrive. *loves it.*

Title: Love is stepping up when need be
Fandom: BBC-Sherlock.
Pairing/characters: John/Sherlock, Lestrade, Donovan.
Rating: PG.
Disclaimer: Sherlock Holmes is owned by Arthur Conan Doyle, various movie-companies, and in this incarnation, by Moffat and Gatiss and the BBC.
Notes: For this prompt at sherlockbbc-fic:

At a crime scene, for whatever reason, John grabs Sherlock and gives him a hard, hot, dominate, possessive kiss that turns Sherlock into a whimpering, weak, stupidly-smiling, gooey blob of aw shucks right in front of Lestrade & Friends.

Then Sherlock composes himself and tells the police why they are all idiots. Because Sherlock may be John Watson's bitch, but he's still smarter than you.
Summary: John always likes to see Sherlock work.

If there's not going to be a second season of Sherlock, I will hunt down those responsible and kill* them.
