'Television rots your brain.' Not much's changed in 60 years.
'This could still be New York. London New York.' After all this time, and h still can't fly the TARDIS. Then again he did drop Sarah Jane off in Cardiff instead of South Croydon. Oy.
5 quid for a telly seems cheap, even for the fifties. And 'Men in black cars' seemed too American for my tastes.
Mr Connelly is a tinhorn martinet, which attitude, according to Mel, 'sadly, that'll save him'. Nice piece of work, product of his time or not. The Doctor was a bit of a bastard too, steamrolling hm like that to get into the house. A fast-talking bastard at that. He does do angry very well, I must say.
Oral!Ten. *swoons.* And of course he thinks it's beautiful. He always does. *sighs.* Hello, it wants to eat your brain. A little less admiration, please?
Who did he impersonate to get into the powerstation?
I liked Tommy well enough, though the whole confrontation with his father seemed too contrived. Too much flinging around of fascism and idealism and things like that. Just too much.
Rose's admonishment of Mr Connely's hanging up the flag was nice to see. She did have her smart moment when she figured out it was the tellies that were the culprit, but confronting Magpie about it like that? Nah, not so smart.
'No power on Earth will stop me now!'
'Feed me! (Seymour!)' Come on, it just begged to be attached to the sentence. ;)
All in all, not a bad episode. I don't tink it missed much by having Rose fall victim to the Wire. It was nice to see someone else help the Doctor. And Betamax...Sheesh, who can play that?
It was a decent enough episode, but I wasn't all that bowled over by it like I was by The Girl in the Fireplace, or the Cybermen-twoparter.
