On reread, I didn't like the book as well as I did the first time. Partly it's because the author seemed too much in love with the common comma. Or maybe he hated it, letting it do the work of the period. There were sentences that would have been better served with the latter mark of punctuation as their connection. He seemed to build run-on sentences, and it spoils smooth reading.

Overall, the story was rather mesh. I can't say I really got into Slippery Jim's character, which is a problem, since the story is told from his point of view in first person. And his obsession with Angelina got old, fast. I'd have preferred more about his exploits on the wrong side of the law, than reading about his work for the good guys. Or his thinking with his little brain that he was doing then.
