I am a fan of J.D. Robb's in Death-series. It's a big series.

Occasionally I go to De Slegte, a second-hand bookstore.

See where this is going? Yes Virginia, I bought about 20 books in this series today and yesterday. I am quite pleased with myself.

I got the same woman behind the counter twice. Today she gave me one book for free, and two at a reduced price. I have no idea why, but I was thankful. The benefits of being a polite customer. :)

Summary: Philip Hawksbury, the Earl of Rothermere, obeying his father's dying wish, hies himself to Scotland to offer for one of the daughters of Alexander Kilbracken, the Earl of Ruthven.

Frances Kilbracken, informed of the earl's arrival and his mission, disguises herself as a bespectacled dowd so she won't be the one selected by the young earl. But choose her he does, and for all the wrong reasons.

The newly married couple return to England, together but not at all happy. Philip dumps Frances at Desborough Hall, his ancestral estate, and heads back to his old life in London.

When the earl returns to his home, driven by guilt, he discovers the woman he married has grossly deceived him. What follows is a battle of the sexes that will have you chuckling, maybe even howling with laughter...

I am beyond feeling ashamed at this

In a fit of Holmes-obsession, I've reread the book-canon over the past week. Also, I rererereread Study in Emerald, Gaiman's fanfic/crossover. It's worth a read, I highly recommend it.

And then I realised: ( Might be spoilery if you've never read the latter )

But really, I do recommend Gaiman's take for Holmes-fans.

Going back to my PWP now. This fandom is really kicking my writing into overdrive. *loves it.*

The fic we've been waiting for with bated breath

Or maybe not so bated. I can't speak for all of us here.

A while ago Rowling wrote some 800-words for charity, and ended it with 'From the prequel I am not working on, but that was fun.'

Waterstone put up the works of the writers involved here. Click on 'Read our authors' stories'. It's a fun little read, even with her rather unclear handwriting. James and Sirius, and weird children's names.

Be sure to read Neil Gaiman's as well. It's shorter than Rowling's, but silly. I liked it.

Fic pimpage! As always, by Mrs Hyde. 'I’m starting to wonder if I am one of about five people in the entire world who not only had no problems with any of the names of the Potter children, but absolutely adored the name of Harry’s second son. (...) The scenes herein were specifically inspired by one the more ridiculous gripings I saw about the names in general, that “Harry just walked all over Ginny and didn’t let her have any say in their names, and she just rolled over and took it!” Please—when has Ginny ever let Harry walk all over her?'.

I fucking hate this fandom, sometimes

Not touching the Lexicon-wank, since I need the time to dick around on the net.

There's also wank about a book JKR wrote, The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Seven handwritten copies, six for her friends and one to be auctioned off. People are not happy with that decision.

The entitlement-issues of some people...

Also, welfare equals charity and means that you are not allowed to write books. *nods* It are fact, I know from my teachings. *slaps people with a wet trout.* What did you want her to do? Stay on welfare forever so you could whine about people no having the gumption to free themselves from their life as parasites of decent, hardworking people?
