The Devil was awesomely done.

Who died and made Rose Second in Command Captain? It was very surprising to see her so in charge and everything. But it's good to see her use that damned brain of hers. And that she did something instead of just waiting for Ten to save her.

I disliked Ten speechifying when he met the Beast. It just seemed too contrived at that point. Likewise I was rather irritated by his going on and on about the hman race. Not like he's said the same thing for over nine hundred years, or whatever his age is now. Yes, we get it, you like humanity. And getting a new angle for every new facial expression bugged me. Meh, I was too picky here I think.

That we were never told that the Beast was the Devil, was nicely done. Either explanation would just have been cheap.

'What was it?'
'We defeated it.'

Poor Ood. All dead and for what? Stupid Beast.

Ten's rescue from the Beast's prison was very Deus Ex TARDIS. Euygh.

Now, I do have to wonder: the Doctor has seen ghosts (the Gelth), werewolves (alien, Tooth and Claw), and, well, all sorts of other Earth myths which were just aliens. Why couldn't the Beast be just another telepathic alien? Silly Doctor.

Also, Ten seems to like humans a lot more than everyhim else (well, more than Nine, for sure, and more than One, who didn't really like anyone much... those're the ones I've seen enough of to be sure), but they do seem to be rather pounding that point home. Ah, well. He's the Doctor and we love him anyway.

-- oh, and I did like the TARDIS towing the rocket. Made me smile, because it's very rare we see the old girl doing anything, really. Other than just fading out, fading in. But, he only had time for one trip? Hello, Doctor, you're in a what machine, there?

Silly Doctor.

I've seen Four (mmm scarf...) and he also goes on about humans. It's just the Doctor: humans are to him what Hobbits are to Gandalf.

Yeah, I liked the rocket's rescue too, but just the way the TARDIS showed up in the Beast's lair was too contrived for me. How did she get there?

Any and all dissatisfaction with this ep is solely due to myself, because looking back it did kick ass.

Ahhh, the Gelth. They caused my inner bastard to yell 'Why did you take them at their word? How the Hell did you survive for so long again? Just by blind trust? Puh-LEAZE! See? Told you.'
