Please include a small sample of the worst of this story: Summary: What would have happened to Middle Earth if Sauron had NOT been destroyed after Frodo destroyed the One Ring? Sauron would have created a new weapon. And that is what he did. If he were to get the king of Gondor, he would have to get to the person that was closest to the king's heart. Legolas. Summary stinks. Yes, yes it does. Sauron did not have the power or even the presence to do much of anything apart from being shadowy. And wouldn't it be easier to go directly after Aragorn himself? Or indeed, his wife? You know, the other Elf?
((Note, Shanesti's name is pronounced Sha-ness-tea. Not Shane-s-tea. Okay? Let me introduce you to this acquaintace of mine. His name is pronounced 'The-ah-tim-eh'. I'm sure you'll get on like a maison flambée.
And when I use the word 'Love' between Aragorn and Legolas, I meant it as J.R.R Tolkien did. The way friends love each other.)) So Aragorn's and Arwen's love is the perfect sibling love of Harmoanian fame then?
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters with the exception of Shanesti, if you wish to "barrow" Bury her on the Downs? Can I?her, ask first. I may or may not agree, it depends on what you are going to do with her.? *brandishes spork.* Nothing much, dearie.
Warning: I may put a few OOC's You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. in here, please do not flame me for it. Thanks!
In the land of Mordor, where shadows lie, the Dark Lord Sauron was locked up in his black tower. The Great Eye looked across the vast wasteland. Ash, dust, rock and lava were the only thing you could see for miles. He knew he should have booked that cruise to Numenor.Mount Doom spewed forth lava and white-hot rocks. I cannot yet take physical form. Sauron thought. But my servant Shanesti can. He smirked cruelly.Euhm, how? Flaming Eye, remember? Or like the Mouth of Sauron there is a Smirker of Sauron? "Shanesti!" he said menacingly. "Time to go. Now, tell me once more what I want you to do." Shanesti: “To crush your enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their women.”
Shanesti looked up from where she crouched in the corner. Shanesti: “I’m playing kitties!” Her silver-blue hair fell about her face, cascading down to her waist. Her blue-green cat shaped eyes .”See? I’ve even got the eyes! Meow!”glinted evilly in the dusky light of the Black Tower. "I am to go into Gondor, seduce Legolas Thrunduilion, son of Thranduil’s senile older brother, Thrunduil and bring him back here. Aragorn will follow, you know this. Once we have the king, Gondor will be weak and helpless. ”Not like they were still standing when Denethor was ruling. And there is still Faramir. Given the timeline, he should be fully healed by now and still in town. Then the city is ours for the taking."
" Perfect." Sauron said simply. "I think you will do well after all."
Shanesti smirked evilly. She was his weapon, and she knew it. And a very powerful weapon she had become. Standing up, she dipped her head in Sauron's direction, before saying, "It will not be long before I will have him seduced. You do not need to worry, I know just the right things to say and do to get him to fall for me. Crap in his shoes, shed hair over his tunics, pee on the bow he got from Galadriel, sleep in Gimli’s beard. It will almost be amusing. I like playing with my prey. Meow." She smiled cruelly.
*SNIP* We switch scenes to Gondor.
Aragorn walked down the streets with his life-long friend Legolas. Arwen was at his side, and held his hand gently.
"Who's that?" Arwen asked, pointing at a girl with curling silvery hair that fell to her waist. The girl was wearing a green-blue cloak with gray designs etched in the hem.
"I am not sure, I certainly have never seen her in Gondor before, maybe she came with the traders." Aragorn responded. Because I keep tabs on everyone who enters the city. It’s not like I have a city to rule or anything.” Legolas eyed her suspiciously. Aragorn could not help but smile at the Elf's wary look towards the girl, Legolas never had trusted anyone until he knew them, he would be reserved as long as the girl was in sight. Smart Elf.
"Aragorn?" Arwen asked.
"Hmm? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
Arwen smiled at him understandingly, making his heart beat faster at the sight of her beauty. "I guess you weren't, as I was saying, I think we should go meet her. I mean, look how self-conscious she looks." Did you forget to take a bath this morning?
Aragorn nodded softly, but out of the corner of one eye watching out of two eyes was something he saved for those late-night parties back north, he saw Legolas slowly shaking his head. Giving him a small jab in the ribs, Aragorn said, " You know what, your right, lets go give her a nice greeting, shall we Legolas?" Legolas grumbled something that could have been a yeah sure, but he didn't press the issue.
Walking over, he saw the girl blush and turn away, obviously not wanting to draw attention to her-self. Too late. He’s suspecting you of being a Sue.
Arwen was the first to speak. "Hello? Are you visiting here with the traders?"
The girl ducked her head and her cheeks colored, "Yes," she whispered. "I am here to find a place to live, my mother and father were killed by some raiders, and since they burned our house to the ground, I thought I might find a place to stay here, I hope you don't mind…." this city having so much abandoned houses and whatnot.
Arwen looked terrified at the girl's story and then she realized that most people here had the same kind of story, and relaxed. "Oh! You poor thing, that’s terrible! You are most welcome here! This is my husband, Aragorn."
The girl's eyes grew wide, "The king?" she said in disbelieve. "Oh my! I beg you pardon your Majesty!" she quickly bowed her head and dipped a curtsy.
Arwen looked surprised, wondering whether she was really wearing her 'My husband broke the Siege of Gondor and all I got was this stupid t-shirt' this day. She was certain she had put it on.
Aragorn smiled and gestured with his for her to rise. "Please, I have enough servants bowing and curtsying in the throne room, there is no need for you to do it." Bollocks. You are the King.
"Beggin' you pardon your Majesty, but I do it out of respect only." She said quietly.
Aragorn suppressed the urge to roll his eyes, "Yes, you and everyone else" he muttered under his breath. "Ouch!" he yelped, Arwen removed her foot off his toes. Glaring good-naturedly at his beautiful wife, Aragorn turned back to the girl. "So, if we are to find you lodging, we need to know your name."
The girl looked at him then said in a soft voice, "My name is…" she watched Legolas out of the corner of her eyes. Aragorn: “Hey, that is my partytrick!”"My name is Shanesti." She smiled at Legolas and tossed her head in a flirty motion.
Legolas's icy gaze did not waver for a second. He did not fancy cats. Shanesti frowned slightly; this was not what she was hoping for. Dang it! She thought. That usually works! Why isn’t he into cats like the rest of them?
Legolas looked over his shoulder. Two men were standing not to far off. He recognized them as Thengel and Boldar, disguised as simple pheasants. Legolas knew they were a part of the Gondor's guards. With them here, he knew that Aragorn could spare him.
Nodding his head slightly to the guards to signal he was leaving, he turned to Aragorn.
"Aragorn?" Legolas said quickly, "I am going for a little walk, I'll see you at dinner."
Aragorn raised an eyebrow, "ah…well…um…okay?" he said as Legolas hastily walked away.
A slow smile went across Arwen's face and she called after him, "Bye Legolas."
"Yes, good-bye, I hope we will meet again soon Legolas! It has been a pleasure meeting you!" Shanesti said.
Legolas stopped for a minute, cast a glance over his shoulder, then walked away so fast, it looked like he was trying to keep himself from running.
"Well he's in a hurry!" Aragorn commented.
"Come on Shanesti," Arwen said, "Lets go find you a room"
Shanesti smiled radiantly, "All right. It has been a great honor meeting you your Highness!"
Aragorn simply smiled, "Its quite alright, hopefully we shall talk with you again some time!"
And with that, Arwen grabbed Shanesti's hand and hurried away. Her husband not caring that she was going off with some random stranger with a thirteen in a dozen sob story. He wanted to go and comfort Legolas.
Legolas walked the streets as fast as he could until he was out of Aragorn's sight. His heart was racing. He did not quite know what to think of it all. The girl was nice, pretty. He shook his head. This was ridiculous! Here I am, warrior, falling for a pretty, silver-haired, Elven maiden! He told himself. You have to keep your mind on Aragorn. Keep him safe, that is your job. See, even he says so. A job that no one assigned him, but he did all the same.
*snip* We very randomly, with no warning, jump to dinner at the castle.
Arwen looked at Legolas, who was sitting quiet, watching and listening to all that was going on around him.
"Legolas? You've been pretty quiet, what do you think of Shanesti?"
Legolas looked around, hoping the question went unnoticed, but all of them were staring at him, awaiting his answer. He shrugged lamely, "I don't know…."
Aragorn looked at him. "What's the matter Legolas? You were acting strange when we first met Shanesti, and you still seem unsure. Don't you like her?"
A spark flashed in Arwen's eyes. "No, I think it is the opposite! I think Legolas likes Shanesti." she said teasingly. Because that is the only reason any man pretends not to have an opinion about a woman.
Legolas flushed as Farimir and Eowyn chuckled at the remark. Legolas was about to deny it, but he realized that would just make things worse. I really can't trust her Or Shanesti for that matter… Legolas thought. I don't know a thing about her. Let’s see, she’s Elrond’s daughter.
"Aw come on Arwen, lay off." Aragorn said, even though his eyes were shining to the pretty pretty warrior. "Leave Legolas alone, you know he is a bachelor, and probably always will be!" He wishes.
Eowyn grinned mischievously. "Oh I don't know about that Aragorn. Legolas is pretty good looking, some Elf just might take a fancy to him!"
Legolas shook his head and smiled. "All right, come on now, enough of this nonsense!" he said, hoping to change the subject. He stood up, "I'm terribly sorry Aragorn, but I must be going now."
Aragorn stood up, he was sorry his friend had to leave so soon, but he knew that if he wanted to do something, there was no stopping him. "Alright. I shall see you tomorrow Legolas."
Legolas smiled at him fondly. "Until tomorrow my friend, Namarie…" Legolas placed his hand over his heart, bowed his head a bit in respect for the king. And Legolas then turned, and walked out the door, leaving the brightly light room to walk the long, dark halls and streets back to his room.
Shanesti stood in the hallway, waiting. Legolas should pass by here if he wants to get to his room. Because old friends have lodgings in the city and random strangers get put up in the palace. She thought. Her blue/green eyes pierced the long dark hallway. She saw a shadowed figure move at the far end near a door. She could see Legolas moving quietly.
It was late, and Legolas was trying to be quiet.
She smiled and smoothed her hair a bit. Then, stepped out in Legolas's path.
Legolas jumped when she seemingly appeared out of nowhere. "Oh!" Shanesti said, pretending to be frightened.
"Legolas!" she placed a hand over her heart and tried to calm herself.
Legolas was equally shocked. He took a step to one side to let Shanesti pass by, but she didn't move.
Turning to him, she asked, "What are you doing prowling around at this time of night?"
Legolas muttered something under his breath that Shanesti couldn't catch.
"What?" she asked,
Legolas looked away and said a little louder, "I was just coming back from dinner with Aragorn."
Shanesti raised her eyebrows. "You dine with the king?" she asked in amazement. Her hand reached up slowly and touched him on the shoulder; she enjoyed the feel of Legolas's skin beneath her cold fingers.
"Well… we are friends…" Legolas said uncomfortably, looking at her hand out of the corner of his eye, and shying away from it.
"You must be very good friends if the king allows you to dine with him!" Shanesti said.
Legolas looked up hotly. His eyes flashed. "Aragorn and I do everything together, Even sharing his marital duties and I would thank you to stay out of my way!" Legolas brushed past Shanesti and walked off, his strides long and hasty.
Shanesti watched him leave and smiled a bit to herself. Well, that may have not gone as I planned, but at least I am making progress. On your way to destruction, dearie. *brandishes spork again.
Legolas stormed in to his room and just barely kept himself from slamming the door. The nerve of her! "You and Aragorn must be really good friends…" She did have a point there, sonnyboy. Then again, he seems to run his palace like an asylum for stray cats. Legolas said in a fake falsetto voice, mimicking Shanesti. "Humph!"
Legolas took off his tunic and ran his fingers through his blonde hair. He didn't feel like going to bed, even though it was late. Dropping his hand to his side, Legolas looked around the room. It was so quiet his ears rang. He sat down on his bed and rubbed the back of his neck.
Images of Shanesti floated around in his head. For some reason, a red flag went up when ever he saw her; it was like his instincts were telling him to stay away. Listen to them. They are telling you she’s a Sue and must be vanquished. He shivered, remembering the feeling of her cold hand resting on his shoulder, stroking, feeling. He still had goose bumps from that simple touch.
What is wrong with me?He wondered. Why do I feel so…so? He didn't know his feelings; and that frustrated him. He stared at his hands, surprised to find that they were shaking. Legolas sighed, and suddenly felt very tired. Next thing he knew, he had toppled over to one side and laid bare-chested on the bed, his dreams filled with disturbing images of him and Shanesti doing things they shouldn't.
*snip* Aragorn’s and Arwen’s pillowtalk about hooking up Leggles with the Sue.
So what do you think? This story sucks Kind of a cliffhanger huh? I’ve seen better ones in the Stallone-movie Well, if you like it, I'll post more!!! Please don’t.
