Bookish love...

The book-discount went on until today, so I got some more stuff out of it.

The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin. Because I could do with a good scare now and again, and that book gets rather creepy. Not so much with gore and blood, just suspense and the overall feeling of 'They have not just gone there!'.

The fisrt volume of Yu-Gi-Oh!. *hangs head.* I know, I know. I never really had time for the cartoon, never really liked it, and why I picked up the manga I'll never know. For a laugh, I think. It's better than I thought. I thought that it was a card-game though, going by the cartoon. Haven't seen any of those. How old is Yugi anyway, being in 10th grade?

And John Milton's magnum opus Paradise Lost. After Yu-Gi-Oh! I needed some serious literature. :P Don't hit me! I was only kidding. It reads ver nicely, not that I can follow it all at first read, but well, we'll give it time.

Anyway, I have some more things to read. ^.^

The early manga yu-gi-oh is actually quite cool. It was released in Japan in anime form as Season one, part two of the manga is the first american season of the anime and so forth...

The first portion of Yu-gi-oh is much different than later sections, primarily because it is based around games of all kinds and not just the inane card game which dominates 2nd season and beyond. Also, the character of Yami Yugi is much more violent. dark and just plan malevolent as opposed to the trained monkey he becomes later on. In that sense the first season is quite entertaining and makes an average-to-good, if short, manga series.

True that. Yugi-possessed scares the crap out of me with that little smile...*shivers.*

I quite like it. I don't have much love for the anime, but that comes in part because I really don't have any love for the people they had doing the voices over here. Everyone sounds so hyper it's creepy.
