Swashbuckling Sulu is hot.
Oh look, it's almost November. What's a girl to do? Well, NaNo, of course. I finally had a plot-idea, and that's good. I didn't participate last year. Hell, I barely wrote the past twelve months. We'll have to see how things go.

After all, there's no new White Collar until next year anyway. Also, Lost Girl won't be back until next week. And no Dr Who until Christmas. Or Sherlock until the new year. All of these shows own time-shares in my heart, apart from DW, which has a permanent apartment.

So...

Booklovers never go to bed alone
Why is there no Blue Beetle in the reboot-JLI? Almost everyone else is there, just no Beetle. I know, Jaime's getting his own series again, and good on him. I'll admit I haven't read his old series, but I've seen enough appearances by the kid to like him, so him getting more attention is not a bad thing.

Also, is Ted Kord still dead in the reboot? Does Infinite Crisis still count as canon in the reboot? We can have two Blue Beetles, since Ted never seriously used the scarab. If he is still dead, then what of Booster? One of the best things about him was his friendship with Ted, and vice versa. I like those two together, and I feel like someone's kicking my heart every time it gets mentioned Ted's dead. On that note, Justice League: Generation Lost: Read more... )

And why no Booster-series? I'm a bit more miffed about this. Most of the stuff I've read so far is Booster, either solo or his appearing in other series, and I would call myself a fan of his. So why no solo-series? Are we going to lose the character-development he's had since his first appearance? That would be a crime.

On the whole, I am not sure what to think about the reboot. Easy for me to say, I know. I've not been in this hobby for all that long, and what I am reading or have read (JLI, Booster Gold, Birds of Prey, Infinite Crisis) is a couple of years old at the very least. Ah well, at least I'll still be able to buy the older stuff, so if the reboot doesn't pan out, I'll still be happy.

If the reboot doesn't pan out, then how is DC going to go back to the 'old' ways? Retcon and pretend the reboot never happened?

Slightly less than a week-and-a-half until the Dr Who Christmas-special. Yay!

New series not until Spring 2011. Boo! And the second half of that not until Autumn 2011. Boo!

New season of Sherlock inbetween new series of Dr Who. Yay!

Martin Freeman to play Bilbo in The Hobbit. Yay!

Let's hope this doesn't wreak havoc with possibly shooting a third season of Sherlock. Because I hate when established characters sudden;y get played by new actors. And you can't you have Sherlock without his Boswell blogger.

According to IMDB, which I trust about as far as I can spit against the wind when it comes to preproduction-news, David Tennant is also to be in The Hobbit. If only, I'd die of geeky glee.

Fairly ascertained rumours that Stephen Fry is going to play Mycroft in the second Sherlock Holmes-movie, along with RDJ (of course) and Jude Law. Out in December 2011. Too long.

So, NaNo'll be upon us soon.

I don't know if I am going to participate this year. I've never come this close without at least something resembling a plot, or the slightest inclination to write. It's... yeah, I don't know what it is.

So, ok

Writing
The best cure for a block on one story is just to write a completely different one? Ok, I can live with that.

People quite seem to like it, and do seem eager for me to finish it. Even if I will have to repost the prompt, since the first prompts-post it appeared in has maxed out on its comments.

It's still not going very fast, either of them, but meh. It's the work that counts.

Normally, you get into a show, then into fanfic. Which would be how I normally do it.

Not, as in this case, watch a bit of the show, go 'Yeah, let's not.' Really, I wasn't that interested. And then you read slashfanfic, which makes you go, 'Yeah, maybe I should watch this show'.

To finally get distracted by cheekbones. Seriously. There's Spike, and Sherlock, and now Merlin. Where did I get this obsession with cheekbones from?

Rating: PG.
Disclaimer: Sherlock Holmes is owned by Arthur Conan Doyle, various movie-companies, and in this incarnation, by Moffat and Gatiss and the BBC.
Notes: For this prompt at sherlockbbc_fic: Lestrade and Anderson and Donovan barge into 221B, accidentally walking in on Sherlock and John, who are... cuddling. On the couch. Either asleep or watching telly.
Because, honestly? Cuddly!Sherlock would probably be a hell of a lot stranger to witness than havingsex!Sherlock.
Cue amusing reactions from Lestrade and Co.

But it didn't really go there.
Summary: There's no such thing as peace for Sherlock and John.

Ffff, I feel so self-conscious when trying to write sex above the PG-13 level.

Practice makes perfect, I suppose.

In a fit of Holmes-obsession, I've reread the book-canon over the past week. Also, I rererereread Study in Emerald, Gaiman's fanfic/crossover. It's worth a read, I highly recommend it.

And then I realised: Might be spoilery if you've never read the latter )

But really, I do recommend Gaiman's take for Holmes-fans.

Going back to my PWP now. This fandom is really kicking my writing into overdrive. *loves it.*

Notes: For this prompt at sherlockbbc-fic:

At a crime scene, for whatever reason, John grabs Sherlock and gives him a hard, hot, dominate, possessive kiss that turns Sherlock into a whimpering, weak, stupidly-smiling, gooey blob of aw shucks right in front of Lestrade & Friends.

Then Sherlock composes himself and tells the police why they are all idiots. Because Sherlock may be John Watson's bitch, but he's still smarter than you.
